My Encounter With Hurricane Rita by The Murph Dog
09.28.05 (4:47 pm)   [edit]

Day 1 (Wed)
Three big people and two little people descend on my house at midnight.  Running from somebody named Rita.

The Collie barking has commenced.

Day 2 (Thurs)
At first light, the big people begin sweeping up Collie hair from the hardwood floors, even though Mom just swept yesterday.

Another big people has escaped Rita, to our house.  There's a rumor that she's accompanied by three cats. One of which is my arch nemesis, Two Tone, but I haven't seen them yet. I'll share my Two Tone story at another time.

I get some alone time with the two little ones.  They feed me half a jar of peanuts.  I'm going to ask Mom, if we can have one of our own or at least rent one from time to time.

The Collies continue barking.

Day 3 (Fri)
The big people wake to new clumps of Collie hair and sweeping resumes. Me and Mom exchange knowing looks and sit back and watch the futile pursuit of Collie hair elimination.

Mom says no to the renting of little ones, as I poop and poop and poop up whole peanuts. Dang! They've been the best part of this whole Rita thing.

Mom decides to give me a bath, so I'll be all spiffy, for Rita.  This Rita must be somebody really special.

The wind begins to pick up as Rita approaches.  Mom makes me go outside to potty, before Rita gets here. Like I'd pee on her or something <shaking head>. Anywho, just as I lift my leg to pee, a gust of wind tips me over. Uh, I'm really starting to dislike Rita.

Hard to believe, but the Collies are still barking.

Day 4 (Sat)
I asked Mom this morning, where Rita is.  Apparently she already came and went as I slept. She could have at least left me a cookie, especially since I took a bath for her. Mom makes some comment about her not being the tooth fairy.

With Rita gone to parts unknown, the big people and little people have made a mass exodus to escape the Collie hair and barking.  Mom checks the driveway for skid marks.

I never did see the cats.  My smeller's not as good as it use to be, so I guess it'll remain a mystery as to whether they were here or not.

It's getting awfully hot in the house.  Mom said Rita took the electricity with her, when she passed through.  I told Mom never invite her back.

Can you hear that? Silence.  The Collies have stopped barking. Thank God, because I was fixin' to ask Mom for ear plugs.
